Jojneswar Sharma, Director General, Defence Estates (DGDE), called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan.Sharma briefed the Governor about certain issues relating to acquisition of land, resettlement and rehabilitation of displaced persons and hiring and requisitioning of lands and buildings by the DGDE.The Governor stressed the vital importance of establishing a system for efficient management of defence land which ensures its optimum utilisation and a dynamic approach for unwanted pockets of such land being returned to the state.The Governor referred to several long-pending cases and recalled negative consequences being suffered on account of defence land in Jammu not having been returned to the University of Jammu for more than a decade. — TNS
