Sampla (Rohtak), March 9The family of BSF Head Constable Rai Singh, who was killed in shelling by Pakistani forces in the Rajouri sector of Jammu and Kashmir in November, is forced to borrow money to make ends meet.“We were told that we will get his salary/pension as well as provident fund, but we haven’t received any of that yet. The Haryana Government also announced a compensation of Rs 50 lakh, but nothing has come our way so far,” said Rai Singh’s widow Sunita while talking to The Tribune.She said as her husband was the only earning member in the family. “There’s no source of income now. I have to take care of three children and my mother-in-law. We have visited the DC twice to get the compensation amount announced by the state government, but to no avail. I have been forced to take loans to pay my children’s fees and meet other expenses,” said Sunita.The government had also promised a job to a family member of the martyr, but nothing has been done. Rai Singh’s brother Bhoop Singh, who works for a private company, said the maramily was in dire straits as the authorities had not ensured that the family gets its dues.“The state government had also announced that a park would be constructed in my brother’s memory and his statue would be installed there, but that project hasn’t started yet,” he lamented.Atul Kumar, DC, said he had spoken to the state Chief Secretary and the compensation would be released soon.
