
Former UPA-II government Union Minister Manish Tewari on Saturday said The Indian Express report alleging non-notified movement of two army units towards Delhi in January 2012 was “unfortunate… but true.” The report said the movement took place on the night of the day then Army Chief General V K Singh approached the Supreme Court on his date of birth issue.

BJP, Cong slam Tewari on troop movement claim

Former Army Chief and current Union Minister VK Singh on Sunday slammed Congress leader Manish Tewari’s claim of non-notified troop movement towards Delhi in January 2012. The BJP said that “Tewari’s comments raise the question about the timing of the statement.” Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson PC Chacko said that the party “very clearly and categorically want to deny this report.”

Responding to Union Minister VK Singh’s jibe of being jobless these days, Congress leader Manish Tewari on Monday hit back saying he has more work than the Ministers of State (MOS) in the Government of India. The former General Singh’s statement criticising Tewari was in response to the former Minister’s confirmation of “unfortunate” troop movement at Raisina hill in 2012.
