Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal displayed exemplary courage and leadership during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. Leading a fierce tank assault against the enemy, he refused to retreat even after being hit, making the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. For his unparalleled bravery, he was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra.
