Roorkee city in Uttarakhand is known for the Roorkee Cantonment, one of country’s oldest cantonments, and is the headquarters of Bengal Engineer Group (Bengal Sappers) since 1853. The Bengal Engineer Group and Center houses the Group Museum and archives of the city, which most people do not know of. The museum was established in 1978 and contains historical documents, books, pamphlets, paintings, photographs of the Bengal Engineer Group, Roorkee. It also showcases several medals, portraits and weapons.
