An Air Force sergeant was allegedly thrashed by railway travelling ticket examiners (TTEs) on board the Mumbai-Ferozepur Punjab Mail here today.The victim identified as Sergeant SK Singh was travelling to Bathinda from Delhi when the incident took place. Though he was carrying a proper ticket, the erring TTEs allegedly confronted him over production of travel warrant. Later, the arguments turned ugly during which the sergeant was allegedly thrashed.The sergeant disembarked at the Bathinda railway station and reportedly informed the matter to his squadron officers at Bhisiana, who in turn communicated the matter to the Movement Control Officer (MCO) at Ferozepur.Senior Army officials at Ferozepur said the MCO deputed one JCO Naib Subedar Sushil Kumar and Havildar HL Prashad to inquire about the matter with the TTEs travelling on the train.When they asked the TTEs about the incident, they allegedly confronted the Army personnel too, following which the senior Army officials took up the matter with the DRM office. Military provost and intelligence officers also reached the station.Senior Divisional Security Commissioner (DSC) Shadan Zeb Khan confirmed the incident. Later after the intervention of senior Army and railway officials, the matter was sorted out amicably. — OC
