Govt funds Wagah-like ceremony at Tripura border

The Centre has sanctioned funds to conduct a “Beating Retreat” ceremony at the Agartala-Akhaura border with Bangladesh, similar to that at Wagah in Punjab. The money was sanctioned under the ‘Swadesh Darshan scheme’ for building a mini stadium among other things, officials said. The Beating Retreat ceremony is performed at Wagah during the closing of the border every evening.
‘Govt mulling Israel-type fencing on Pak border’

The Centre is reportedly considering the implementation of Israel-type highly-secured fencing along the Indo-Pak border in the sensitive areas of Punjab and Jammu to ensure ‘zero infiltration’. The proposal was reportedly discussed in a meeting attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and NSA Ajit Doval. Israel is considered to have one of the best border protection systems in the world.
Doordarshan to deploy 27 HD cameras for R-Day

Doordarshan will deploy 27 high-definition cameras, two hydraulic cranes and over a 100 personnel to live-telecast the 67th Republic Day celebrations. Fifteen of the said cameras will be placed along Rajpath, seven at the India Gate and five at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Further, dynamic microphones will be placed on the parade ground to pick up atmospheric sounds like foot movements.
Goat joins British Army to perform in parades

A male goat named Fusilier Llywelyn on Friday joined the British Army’s Royal Welsh Regiment, to perform in parades, after going through a basic training. The goat will accompany the members of the regiment at the barracks and ceremonial duties. The Royal goat tradition has been a part of the British Army since 1844.
ISIS suspects learnt bomb-making online: Reports

The fourteen men detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for alleged links with the Islamic State learnt bomb-making online, according to officials. Pictures, which detailed bomb-making through the use of easily available explosives, had reportedly been downloaded from numerous extremist websites. Timer devices, hydrogen peroxide and wires were also recovered by NIA investigators.
