CHANDIGARH: A fighting man was killed in action almost a year ago. Now, his widow is preparing to expend sweat and blood at the Officers Training Academyin Chennai so she can carry forward his legacy.
“My husband was my hero and serving in the Army will keep him with me forever,” Neeta Deswal told TOI.
Her husband, Major Amit Deswal of the Army’s Special Forces, died in a gun battle with insurgents in Manipur on April 14 last year. Neeta was grief-stricken, her world collapsing around her and her then three-year-old son. But strength prevailed.
Selected as a Short Service Commission officer, Neeta will begin 49 weeks of intensive training from April 1.
