Jaguar catches fire in Ambala, pilot safe

Chandigarh: A Jaguar fighter aircraft caught fire during takeoff roll at the Ambala Air Force Station late Tuesday evening. The pilot, a Squadron Leader,  was able to exit the aircraft while it was still on the ground.(Follow The Tribune on Facebook; and Twitter @thetribunechd)While the Air Force has ordered a court of inquiry to ascertain the cause of the incident, it is suspected that a technical snag may have led to the fire. “It could be an electrical short-circuit or ingestion of a foreign body into the engine,” an IAF officer said.
